Willie holds an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science from Brevard College in Brevard, N.C. After graduating, he completed two terms with AmeriCorps VISTA through North Carolina Campus Compact at Western Carolina University, where he raised awareness about food insecurity and built capacity at the Community Table, a nonprofit focused on hunger relief. Willie served as a Board and Grant Specialist at Foundation For The Carolinas in Charlotte, where he managed five regional affiliate boards. He is now the Senior Program Officer for Quality-of-Life at the Danville Regional Foundation, where he will focus on accessing and improving quality-of-life outcomes for residents of the Dan River Region.
