Rhett N. Mabry

A native of Greensboro, N.C., Mabry joined the Endowment in 1992 as Associate Director of Health Care. He became Director of Child Care in 1998, was named Vice President of the Endowment in 2009, and became President in 2016. Mabry holds a Master of Health Administration from Duke University and a bachelor’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill. Before joining the Endowment, he was manager at Ernst & Young, Southeast Management Consulting Group, Healthcare Finance and Planning Group and Administrative Director of Patient Care Services, HCA West Paces Ferry Hospital. He serves on the North Carolina Governor’s Early Childhood Advisory Council, is an Observer to the Duke University Board of Trustees, and is past board chair of the Southeastern Council of Foundations.

Morehead joined the Endowment in 2007. Prior to his arrival, he was a shareholder at Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson, P.A., in Charlotte, N.C., and concentrated on trusts and estates and tax law. Morehead is a member of the North Carolina and South Carolina Bars.

Since joining the Endowment in 2007, McConnell has worked in the Higher Education program area and served as Director of Human Resources. She became Director of Higher Education in 2013. She previously worked for The Vanguard Group and Duke Energy Corporation. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Third Sector Leadership Program.

Sales joined the Endowment in 2007 after working as the childhood obesity program officer at the North Carolina Health and Wellness Trust Fund in Raleigh. Prior to that, she worked as the program director for the U.S. Postal Service Headquarters Health Promotion Program. Sales is a certified education specialist. Her areas of expertise include prevention and health equity, health professions workforce and mental health services.

Prior to his Fellowship, Will completed his second AmeriCorps VISTA term through North Carolina Campus Compact at Western Carolina University, where he raised awareness about food insecurity and built capacity at Community Table, a nonprofit focused on hunger relief.

Charisma holds an undergraduate degree in International Comparative Studies and a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University in Durham, N.C. She previously worked as the volunteer coordinator in community impact at the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, where she managed the recruiting, training and placement of volunteers for the Y Readers summer and afterschool programs, and the Y Achievers career and college readiness program. Charisma also served as a City Year AmeriCorps member in Louisiana.

With 30 years experience in the communications field, she has held senior positions with United Way and other nonprofits in Charleston, S.C., and Roanoke, Va. She serves on the board of the Communications Network.

Bacon joined the Endowment in 2009 after five years as a grantmaker and evaluator at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation in California. Previously, he led research and evaluation in social service and academic settings, and served as an evaluation consultant in the fields of mental health, youth development and teen pregnancy prevention. He holds a doctorate in psychology from Johns Hopkins University.

Rogers joined the Endowment in 1996 after four years with KPMG as a Senior Auditor. Rogers worked for ten years as the Endowment's Controller and in 2006 was promoted to Treasurer. Rogers is a Certified Public Accountant, and is a member of the North Carolina Association of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.

Zhang joined the Endowment in 2010 after working as a group controller in the Institutional Trust and Retirement department at Wachovia/Wells Fargo in Charlotte. Hollowell joined the Endowment in 2001 after working in hospital administration with the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina. Hollowell currently serves on the boards of the Care Share Health Alliance and AccessHealth SC. He directs funding initiatives supporting a range of issues including mental health, emergency medical services and access to care for the uninsured.

Before joining the Endowment in 2017, Collins was director of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Rural Health since 2013. She previously served as the Office’s deputy director, and held a joint appointment as director of managed care with the Division of Medical Assistance. Collins has also worked as human service planner and evaluator with Buncombe County and executive director of Community Care of Western North Carolina.

Prior to his work with SITIA, Sharp was the Director of Information Technology at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, serving as lead technologist for 18 years.

Before joining the Endowment, Todd was Director of Long-Term Investments at Duke Energy Corporation. He has the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and serves on the Investment Committee of Foundation For The Carolinas, and as Trustee of The Mary Duke Biddle Foundation.

Webb chairs the Rural Life Committee of the North Carolina Council of Churches and he's vice chair of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church's Council on Campus Ministry.

Richardson-Frick joined the Endowment in 2012. An ordained elder in the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, she has served as associate and senior pastor at several United Methodist churches in South Carolina. A certified ministry coach, Richardson-Frick’s involvement with the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church has included chair of the Committee on Episcopacy and chair of the Orangeburg District Committee on Congregational Development.
