Our work fulfills the visionary genius and legacy of our founder James B. Duke. We apply our resources by underwriting effective practices and proven programs with a documented record of success, by supporting innovative solutions to widespread problems and by funding systems and facilities that strengthen organizations.

We work through select North Carolina and South Carolina organizations to:

In 2013, The Duke Endowment approved 205 new grants, totaling over $99.4 million, some of which will be paid in future years. Nearly $128 million was distributed through 338 grants, some of which were approved in previous years.
