For children, dealing with illness or the death of a loved one can be a time of intense emotion and upheaval.
A hospice and palliative care program known as Kids Path helps children and their families live and cope with illness and death. Through Kids Path, Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro provides specialized care for children living with serious, progressive medical conditions, as well as support for children and teens experiencing grief after losing a loved one. As illnesses progress, the hospice program provides comprehensive care for young patients facing the last days of life. Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro created the palliative care program for children and their families, expanding it with support from The Duke Endowment. The program is now offered in 30 counties in North Carolina and South Carolina. As with other palliative and hospice care programs, Kids Path takes a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to meeting the needs of young patients and their families.
